Cardiff’s oldest private sixth form academy was bought by Mr Sajid Ghaffar, Chairman of the Draycott Group in 2018, and since the acquisition, the academy has seen unprecedented growth.
In 2018, a scholarship programme, worth £250,000 per annum, was introduced and funded by Mr Sajid Ghaffar, which has allowed bright and talented students to study A Levels at Cardiff Academy, benefiting from intimate class sizes, high-quality facilities, and personal tuition and guidance to help further their future university goals.
The academy has recently moved to a brand new, modern building situated in the heart of Cardiff City Centre. The new facilities include state of the art laboratories, fully equipped modern classrooms and a large common room.
Some of the milestones achieved since the takeover:
Highly Trusted Tier 4 Sponsor status
Recruited International students in September 2019
Accredited by the NCUK and able to offer pathway programmes
Inspected by Estyn and met or exceeded all expectations.
September 2018 Intake achieved outstanding results.
“I’m aware of how fortunate I’ve been to be well-educated, both practically and morally,” says Sajid, “The very best of opportunities open to children when learning in a positive and dedicated environment. Our approach to education combines western and eastern philosophies. The former encourages the student to think critically, to be creative and to develop self-confidence, motivation and flexibility. The latter involves teaching through the implementation of high standards allowing the student to develop a sense of commitment, diligence and perseverance. Our students not only excel academically but develop round personalities which will prepare them for life and for university.”
